2-3-17: To start, if you’ve never tried predator hunting…you have to. It’s a blast. I’m by no means an expert when it comes to harvesting a coyote or a fox in SW Michigan. I’ve actually never harvested one, ever. With that said, here’s what I’ve seen so far this winter.
Coyote mating season should be in full swing now. This time of year we always hear lots of coyote chatter, so now is a great time to get out in the woods and see if you can call in a lonely yote looking for love. From years past, clear nights and bright moonlight seem to boost the coyote vocalization (at least from what I hear at my house). The full mood is approaching, so things should only get better. Heck, there was a fox running down my street in broad daylight this evening. That doesn’t happen every day. Things are happening, so get out there!
