South Haven, Michigan 2017: I caught wind from a few South Haven locals that the salmon and steelhead have been running up the Black River this week. Apparently several nice fish were caught at the boat launch earlier this week so I had to get over there and try my luck.

Unfortunately luck wasn’t on my side today. I was casting spoons and drifted both shrimp and artificial spawn…no bites. Several others were fishing the river banks and there were boats trolling the river so there has to be fish moving in. The weather was absolutely beautiful, it was a perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Looks like we’ll continue to have this spring-like weather for a few more days so get out there and wet a line!
