November 15th, 2016: I was fortunate enough to spend the 2016 Michigan gun opener at our family cabin with my grandfather and uncle. What made it so special is my grandpa is the one who made me a sportsman. He started that fire for me and my dad and uncles fueled that fire. Taking deer at our cabin is tough, there just aren’t many there. Though I didn’t see a single deer all week I was able to be part of my uncle taking this Northern Michigan buck. The week was a great reminder that it’s not the size of the buck you harvest, it’s the memories you make with friends and family!
